In a major breakthrough, SA’s North West police have apprehended six suspects who have been reportedly terrorizing communities in Rustenburg.
The individuals, all of whom are Lesotho nationals, now face a number of charges, including possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property, and contravention of the Immigration Act.

The alleged crimes were committed in the Sondela informal settlements, which have been plagued by a recent surge in criminal activities.
The arrests were made following a series of intensive investigations by law enforcement agencies.

According to the police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, the suspects are scheduled to appear in court tomorrow to face the charges brought against them.
“During the arrests, three unlicenced firearms were seized including one with a filed off serial number, 79 ammunition, two magazines and cash ammounting to R24 200,” he said.

Mokgwabone also emphasized that ongoing investigations are still underway, and there is a possibility of linking the arrested suspects to additional cases or uncovering the involvement of other individuals in the criminal activities.

“Investigations are underway and the police can not rule out the possibility of bringing to book additional suspects and linking the arrested ones with more cases.

“All suspects, including a 24 year old woman are expected to appear tomorrow in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court.” He added.
