Various political parties and activists have called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to announce the election date on his next State of the Nation address which will be held next month.

This comes after the President only gave assurances that he would announce the dates soon, but without giving the actual date where he will make the announcement.

This year’s elections are expected to be hotly contested, with over 360 political parties having shown interest in contesting.

The nation is also being rallied to register to vote, with the final voter registration blitz set to be conducted on 3 and 4 February.

The IEC has encouraged citizens to register in their number for the upcoming Provincial and National elections
