President Cyril Ramaphosa has confirmed that South African Revenue Services (SARS) Commissioner, Edward Kieswetter is to remain in office for an additional two years.

The decision to prolong Kieswetter’s tenure is as a result of an agreement between the President and the Commissioner to facilitate a seamless leadership transition within the organization.

Kieswetter, who was appointed by Ramaphosa in March 2019 for a five-year term, will now continue to spearhead the implementation of SARS’ ongoing initiatives during this extended period.

In a statement released by the presidency, the emphasis was placed on the importance of ensuring a smooth transition of leadership within SARS.
