South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, has strongly criticized the Democratic Alliance (DA) for reaching out to the United States and requesting international assistance to ensure the integrity of the upcoming national elections.
Minister Pandor expressed her surprise and disapproval regarding the DA’s letter during a recent statement.
In her statement, Honorable Pandor revealed the extensive efforts made in previous elections to ensure transparency and credibility stating that South Africa has consistently conducted open and fair elections.
“The letter almost suggested that over 160 organizations that have previously been observer’s are somehow partisan. And I’m not sure where that particular allegation or implication comes from, because we have always been found to have very open and free elections.” Said Minister Pandor.
“What would have been interesting, though, is to write perhaps to the African Union rather than the United States of America.” Minister Pandor added.
The upcoming national elections are scheduled for May 29, 2024.
