The African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga has taken disciplinary action against its provincial treasurer, Mandla Msibi, following allegations of misconduct.
Msibi’s party membership has been suspended for a period of three years, in accordance with the ANC’s constitution.
The decision was made by the party’s disciplinary committee after Msibi, along with Sibusiso Bhuda Mdluli and Mandla Mhlanga, were temporarily suspended in January.
The suspension includes a provision where two years of the penalty will be suspended, provided that Msibi does not commit a similar offense during that period.
According to reports, the trio had allegedly demanded a meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa on the day of the January 8 Statement celebration in Pienaar.
It is further alleged that they threatened to disrupt the event, posing a potential risk to its smooth execution.
The Provincial ANC Secretary, Muzi Chirwa, confirmed that all three individuals faced the party’s disciplinary committee.
“The membership of comrade Mandela Msibi is suspended for three years, and the operation of the two years is suspended on condition that he is not found guilty on a similar offense during the period of suspension.” He said.
“Then on comrade Mandla Mhlanga, on all counts put before the provincial disciplinary committee, we unanimously agree that he was not found guilty. Then on comrade Sibusiso Sbuda, on almost all the counts, he is found guilty and the sanction is an expulsion from the ANC with immediate effect.” Added Muzi.
