The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has recently disclosed a concerning issue regarding candidates appearing on multiple party lists in preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections.
According to the IEC’s announcement, a total of 42 candidates have been found to appear on more than one party list, indicating 39 different political parties.
The IEC has taken measures to make the list of party and independent candidates available for the public.
It also disclosed candidates on Multiple Party Lists inspection.
IEC has also reported that a total of 14,662 candidates have been nominated to compete for the 887 available seats in the National Assembly and the nine legislatures.
The commission has announced that the final list of candidates who will be contesting the elections on May 29, 2024, will be released on April 10.
